Nissan Kait SUV top 5 highlights explained

1. It is based on the Nissan Kicks

Nissan Kait

The new Kait isn’t that new after all. It is based on the current Nissan Kicks, which is sold in the UAE as well. In fact, the dimensions and the side profile of the Kait are similar to the Kicks.

However, it features the new front and rear design with the new three-slat LED DRLs and a sleeker profile that helps it look modern and in line with Nissan’s current design language.

Other design changes include the new front grille, redesigned bumpers, a new tailgate with the new LED taillights and Kait lettering, and six exterior colour options.

Dimension-wise, it is 4,304 metres long, 1,760 mm wide, and 1,611 mm high. The cargo space of the Kait is rated 432 litres, which is expandable via the rear folding seats.

2. It gets modern cabin features

Unlike the Nissan Kicks, the new Nissan Kait features a rather modern cabin design. It gets a new 7-inch digital driver console and a bigger, 9-inch Pioneer-sourced infotainment screen with advanced UI and wireless features for the latter.

Other key details include the black leather upholstery on the top variant, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, rear AC vents, ambient lights, a 360-degree camera, ADAS safety, and more.

3. Gets the same engine as Kicks

As the Nissan Kait is essentially Kicks underneath its new skin, the mechanical setup remains unchanged. It is powered by the tried and tested 1.6-litre, four-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine that offers 110 bhp/146 Nm.

It is a front-wheel drive SUV that uses a CVT automatic transmission to power the wheels. Speaking of its fuel efficiency, Nissan claims that it can deliver around 11 kpl in city driving conditions.

4. It will be made in Brazil

Nissan has begun the production of the Kait at its Resende plant in Brazil. The new Nissan Kait has been specifically designed for the Latin market, and it will be exported to 20 countries from Brazil to the pan-Latin America.

5. It will not come to the UAE

Sadly, the new Nissan Kait is not that of a ‘new’ car overall. It features the same mechanical setup that the previous Nissan Kicks had, and it has a similar cabin space and interior, which make it less desirable.

While Nissan is yet to confirm its launch timeline for the Middle Eastern market, we firmly believe that it will not launch in the UAE as the current-gen GCC-spec Kicks is doing well in the UAE and it is an important product for the company, which shall be replaced by a new-generation model in the future.
