The 2026 Lexus ES has been officially unveiled at the Shanghai Motor Show 2025. The new ES generation is claimed to offer more comfort and a first-class ride experience.

2026 Lexus ES - Design and dimensions

The new-gen ES is based on the TNGA-K platform, which makes it competent for an ICE as well as EV powertrain compatibility. The new-gen ES has also grown in size as it is longer, wider, and higher than the outgoing model.

The new ES is 5,140 mm (+165 mm) in length, 1,920 mm (+55 mm) in width, and 1,555 mm (+110 mm, Hybrid) and 1,560 mm (+115 mm, Electric) in height. The wheelbase has also extended by 80 mm, as it is now 2,950 mm.

In terms of design, Lexus has tried to sustain the brand's identity with the new sharp and modern fascia. It gets a set of new LED headlamps with horizontal L-shaped DRLs and a completely new bumper with big aero dams.

On the side, it features a sloping roof, flush-type door handles, aero dams on the front doors for efficiency, and new machine-cut alloy wheels.

The rear profile is heavily inspired by the LF-ZC concept, as it features a new boot, new connected LED taillights, and a new bumper with vertical LED lights.

Cabin and feature changes

Another big leap forward is on the inside. The new-gen ES now gets a unique, minimalistic cabin design. The dashboard is all-new, and so are the other critical parts like the new three-spoke steering wheel, 14-inch infotainment screen, a 12.3-inch digital cockpit, and more.

Unlike the previous model, the new-gen ES features a seamless design. Most of the physical buttons have been replaced by touch controls, which are further embedded in the infotainment screen.

The cabin theme is also all-new as it gets the new leather upholstery, redesigned seats for added comfort, a Mark Levinson music system, and an electrochromic panoramic sunroof.

The rear seat experience has been further enhanced with the new Ottoman seats. The legroom, headroom, and width have increased, and the sound insulation has been worked upon to provide the rear passengers a first-class experience.

Safety features

For the 2026 Lexus ES, the company has also enhanced the safety system. Along with the standard 10 airbags, ABS+ESP, it now comes with the Lexus Safety System+ 4.0.

This Level 2 ADAS safety suite features multiple autonomous safety assist functions like adaptive cruise control, blind spot intervention and monitor, lane keep assist, rear-cross traffic collision assist, front collision avoidance assist, and more.

2026 Lexus ES EV details

Lexus has also introduced the fully-electric powertrain options for the new-gen ES. The Lexus ES EV will be offered with two variants: 350e and 550e.

The Lexus ES EV 350e is powered by a 224.3 bhp, FWD electric motor, which can do 0-100 km/h in 8.9 seconds. It gets a claimed range of 685 km (China test cycle).

Meanwhile, the Lexus ES EV 550e is equipped with a 342.6 bhp, AWD dual-motor powertrain, which can do 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. It can cover a claimed range of up to 610 km on a single charge.

The battery details and charging time are yet to be revealed by Lexus.

2026 Lexus ES hybrid engine details 

Along with the EV, the new ES will be offered with strong hybrid powertrain options as well. There are two hybrid variant options for the new ES: 300h and 350h.

The 300h variant is offered with two engine options: a 2.0-litre (197.1 bhp) engine and a 2.5-litre (201.2 bhp) hybrid motor.

Meanwhile, the bigger 350h variant comes equipped with only one engine, i.e. the 2.5-litre (247.4 bhp) hybrid motor.

Both of the above variants are mated to an e-CVT automatic transmission and feature four-cylinder.

2026 Lexus ES - UAE launch and price

Lexus will sell the new-gen ES model in China initially. However, the Japanese brand has ensured that it will launch it in the prominent markets like the UAE by the second half of this year.

The current-gen Lexus ES is available from a starting price of AED 163,000. The new-gen ES sedan will be positioned substantially higher than the current model.
