Maserati MCPura: What is special?

The MCPura is based on the MC20 sports car; hence, it uses the same carbon fibre monocoque chassis and the beautiful butterfly doors.
However, to make it distinctive, Maserati has extensively used aerodynamic engineering with the help of the Dallara racing firm.
The major change on the outside is the new ‘Shark nose’ design, which features styling cues from the GT2 Stradale.
As per Maserati, its engineers have spent more than 2,000 man-hours in the wind tunnel to improve the aerodynamic efficiency of the car. Additionally, it has undergone 1,000 fluid dynamics simulations for an enhanced and intuitive performance upgrade.
Additionally, it also gets an optional big wing spoiler that increases the downforce and enhances the handling, high-speed stability, as well as the chassis balance around the corners.
Maserati MCPura: Two body types

Maserati has revealed the MCPura in two body types: coupe and convertible. The convertible version is called MCPura Cielo - meaning ‘Sky’ in Italian.
The MCPura Cielo features a special PDLC retractable roof, which turns from opaque to translucent within seconds via a button.
Moreover, the brand has worked on a new, exclusive 30 colour palette for the MCPura, including the new Devil Orange, Verde Royale, and Night Interaction.
Out of the new colours, Maserati revealed the AI Aqua Rainbow shade at the Goodwood Speed Festival.

The coupe version was showcased with the matte finish of the AI Aqua Rainbow shade, while the convertible was draped in the glossy version of the same shade.
Additionally, the C-pillar, alloy wheels, and the brand’s logo have been draped in magenta colour mixed with blue mica.

Interestingly, the cabin of the MCPura features a new seat design and an overall new theme. This has been specially crafted with the Alcantara leather with laser-ech styling.
Maserati MCPura: Engine specifications
As the MCPura is based on the MC20, it continues using the powerful 3.0-litre, twin-turbo, Nettuno V6 engine.
This engine has been derived from the F1 car and features a pre-chamber combustion by using two spark plugs - a technological innovation.
This engine generates 630 bhp of peak power output and 720 Nm of peak torque. The drivetrain is a RWD configuration, and the power is sent to the rear wheels via an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The new aerodynamic upgrades have shed substantial weight from the MCPura, which has led to the total kerb weight of just 1,500 kg. With that said, it generates the highest torque-to-weight ratio in the segment, i.e. 2.33kg/CV.
Maserati is yet to unveil the performance figures for the MCPura.
