Design and platform of the 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLB

2026 Mercedes-Benz EQB

The new GLB is based on the MMA platform that was introduced recently with the new-generation CLA. Although it is much longer than the CLA, its dimensions are identical to the EQB, as it is 98 mm longer, 27 mm wider, and 14 mm lower than the EQB EV.

However, with its new platform, the GLB is now 800V compliant, which further allows for improved performance and efficiency. Design-wise, it features a rather curvy outlook with the new LED headlights that get the star-LED DRLs, a new broader grille, redesigned bumpers, new body panels, and a new bonnet as well.

Meanwhile, the biggest change is noticed at the rear, where it gets the new vertical LED taillights that are connected via a lightbar with star-shaped LEDs. The rear profile gets a vertical tailgate with a roof-integrated spoiler and a new bumper.

New cabin design and features

2026 Mercedes-Benz EQB

Mercedes has already unveiled the design of the GLB’s cabin. It gets the new vertical dashboard with the new Hyperscreen that was first introduced in the CLA.

This new screen has a 10.25-inch driver display and two 14-inch screens for infotainment and passenger entertainment, respectively. Although the passenger screen will be an optional accessory.

The cabin is all-new with redesigned seats, new door panels, a new centre console, and improved NVH. The overall comfort has been elevated with the addition of new features that include the Google and Microsoft AI assistance features, Unity Game Engine for the passenger screen, etc.

Since the GLB has 60 mm more wheelbase than the EQB, its cabin space has increased for the rear passengers. Mercedes is offering the GLB in two seating options: a 5-seater and a 7-seater. Also, it has a 127-litre Frunk or the front boot space to carry lightweight luggage like handbags and the portable charger, etc.

Battery, specs, and performance of the Mercedes-Benz GLB

2026 Mercedes-Benz EQB

Mercedes has introduced the GLB in two variants that are named GLB 250+ and GLB 350 4MATIC. Powered by the EQ technology, both variants are propelled by an 85 kWh lithium battery that supports rapid charging of up to 320 kW.

However, the GLB 250+ is a rear-wheel drive model, and it offers 268 bhp/335 Nm that helps it sprint 0-100 kph in just 7.6 seconds. It offers a claimed range of up to 630 km.

Meanwhile, the GLB 350 4MATIC is powered by twin electric motors, each present on individual axles. It generates 349 bhp/515 Nm that helps it sprint 0-100 kph in just 5.5 seconds. The claimed range of the AWD variant is 615 km.

What is the price of the new Mercedes-Benz GLB?

As of now, the new GLB e-SUV is available only in the German market. It has been priced as follows:

  • GLB 250+ - €59,048 (approx. AED 252,300)
  • GLB 350 4MATIC - €62,178 (approx. AED 265,900)

When will it launch in the UAE?

Mercedes is planning to introduce the new GLB electric SUV in the global markets in 2026. The EV will be initially launched in the priority markets like the US, and later it will be launched in the UAE. Our expectation is that it will debut in the UAE by late 2026.

Cars24 UAE says

The new Mercedes-Benz GLB EV has brought with it a refreshed design and an improved architecture. Its cabin is more plush than the EQB, and its new-generation technology is mind-boggling as well. Meanwhile, the EV claims to offer a promising performance, which is suited for everyday use and spirited driving as well.
