Ford Bronco EV: Battery, specs, range

The first-ever electric Bronco, called Bronco New Energy, has been designed with the help of BYD’s electric battery architecture. It is based on an 800V platform, which supports rapid charging as well.
Powering the Bronco EV is a massive 105.4 kWh battery pack, which uses the BYD trademark ‘Blade Battery’ design. It is offered with a standard AWD configuration, as it uses a dual electric motor setup.
The dual motors generate 311 bhp of peak power, while the maximum CLTC-claimed range is rated up to 650 km on a full charge. Meanwhile, it can reach up to a top speed of 170 km/h.
Ford Bronco EREV: Engine specs, range

In addition to the electric Bronco, Ford has also introduced a new Extended Range EV version. It uses a combination of battery and an ICE motor to offer long range.
Powering the Bronco EREV is a 1.5-litre petrol engine, which makes 147 bhp of power. This engine acts as an electric generator and supplies the power to the 43.7 kWh battery pack to continuously charge it.
The battery pack further supplies the power to the dual electric motors, which offer a pure EV range of up to 220 km, while the combined range tops out at 1,220 km.
Ford Bronco EV: Design and features

In terms of design, the new Bronco EV and EREV models are based on the design philosophy of the Bronco Sport variant. The overall design is unchanged, as the SUV continues featuring the iconic boxy shape.
The front gets the double C-shaped LED DRLs and an illuminated Bronco lettering on the front grille cover. On the side profile, it gets flush door handles, black alloys, contrasting black roof and pillars, black ORVMs, and body cladding.
The rear profile is matched with the vertical LED lights, tailgate-mounted spare tyre, and a rugged bumper design. The top shot photo also shows a big panoramic sunroof.
Ford is yet to release the complete details about the new Bronco EV and EREV, including the interiors, features and safety.

Our verdict
The newly unveiled Ford Bronco EV and EREV models promise a strong performance for off-road and SUV lovers. The traditional Bronco styling has been kept intact, while the 4X4 drivetrain, along with the long range, is promising for every type of use. Sadly, the UAE market will not get the electric Bronco soon.
