Mercedes CLA Shooting Brake EV: Battery, range, performance
As the new-gen CLA Shooting Brake replaces the ICE powertrain of the outgoing model, it uses a new 800V architecture, which supports fast charging of up to 320 kW.
Mercedes is offering the new CLA Shooting Brake EV in two variants: 250+ and 350 4MATIC. Both variants use the same 85 kWh NMC battery pack with variable outputs.
The CLA Shooting Brake 250+ uses a single electric motor mounted on the rear axle. It develops 272 bhp of peak power and 335 Nm of peak torque. It also offers a maximum range of up to 761 km (WLTP).
Meanwhile, the CLA Shooting Brake 350 4MATIC gets a dual motor setup, which generates 354 bhp of peak power and 515 Nm of torque. It offers a range of up to 730 km (WLTP) on a single charge.
In terms of performance, the 250+ can sprint 0-100 km/h in just 6.8 seconds, while the 350 4MATIC can do it in 5 seconds flat. Both variants get a top speed of 210 km/h.
Mercedes claims that with the support of a 320 kW DC charger, the 310 km of range can be added within 10 minutes for both variants.
Mercedes CLA Shooting Brake EV: Exterior design
Based on the design language of the new-gen CLA sedan, the CLA Shooting Brake gets a unique mix of styling of a sedan and an estate.
The front gets a connected LED headlamp setup with an illuminated front grille cover, while the rear features semi-circular LED tail lights connected via an LED lightbar.
The side profile of the CLA Shooting Brake EV is interesting as it features a sloping roof design with a roof-mounted spoiler, flush door handles, and black alloy wheels.
Meanwhile, the roof rails on the top are rated for 75 kg payload, while the EV gets a towing capacity of 1,800 kg.
Mercedes CLA Shooting Brake EV: Interiors and features
On the inside, the CLA Shooting Brake EV offers more space than the CLA sedan. It gets equipped with the triple connected screen setup, dual-tone leather upholstery, aluminium highlights, and a cargo space of 455 litres, which can be expanded to 1,290 litres by folding the rear seats.
