Toyota Urban Cruiser EV - Everything you need to know

Suzuki and Toyota have been jointly working together for years. Both brands have a sole focus on the SUV segments, and their latest innovation is the new mid-size EV SUV, which was first introduced in Suzuki’s guise of e Vitara.
Now, Toyota is all set to launch its rebadged e Vitara, which it will call Urban Cruiser EV. This rebadged electric SUV will be revealed on January 19 internationally.
As far as the details are concerned, the Urban Cruiser EV will possess a similar silhouette to the e Vitara, but its styling cues will be oriented towards Toyota’s latest models. Hence, it will get the new LED headlights, new bumpers, and new alloys.

However, on the inside, it will be largely similar to the Suzuki sibling, save for the Toyota badge on the steering wheel and on the infotainment and instrument consoles.

The cabin will be a comfortable place to be in, as it will offer a dual-tone leather upholstery, and features like a dual connected screen, electric seats with ventilation, Level 2 ADAS safety suite, ambient lights, dual-zone AC, etc.
What about the battery specs, range, and performance?
As far as the battery specs are concerned, it will share the same Heartect-e platform as the Suzuki e Vitara. Therefore, it will be offered in two battery pack options: 48.8 kWh and 61.1 kWh LFP.
The 48.8 kWh LFP battery will offer 142 bhp and 192.5 Nm of power and torque. These variants will be FWD only and offer an estimated real-world range of more than 400 km.
Meanwhile, the 61.1 kWh LFP battery variants will offer 172 bhp of peak power and 192.5 Nm of torque. These variants will be offered with the options of a FWD or an AWD setup, with a maximum claimed range of up to 500 km. The AWD setup is expected to offer 300 Nm of peak torque.
Speaking of the performance, the 61.1 kWh battery pack will offer 0-100 km/h in 8.7 seconds, and a top speed of up to 180 km/h.
When will the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV launch in the UAE?
Toyota is due to confirm the launch of the Urban Cruiser EV in the UAE. It will be introduced in India on January 19, and later, the global markets like the UAE will follow.
We assume that it will launch in Dubai by late 2026, and it will compete with the MG ZS EV directly. The price expectation is also similar to the ZS EV, i.e. AED 105,000 to AED 110,000.
Cars24 UAE says
Toyota Urban Cruiser EV is likely to change the mid-size electric car market globally. While the battery specs and the range of the Urban Cruiser EV might not be groundbreaking, its reliability and the expansive Toyota service support will definitely find a lot of customers worldwide.
