What is the 2027 Nissan X-Trail E-Power Hybrid?

The newly unveiled X-Trail E-Power Hybrid is an upcoming HEV or hybrid electric vehicle that uses a smart powertrain to save fuel and offer quick performance. Nissan has recently revealed it for the global market, and it is slated to launch first in the US next year.
Speaking of the main change, it features a new 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that is paired with a 2.1 kWh lithium-ion battery. This setup is further mated to a dual electric motor setup, with each motor mounted on each axle.
While Nissan has not revealed the exact details of this setup or how it works, it is believed to be a series hybrid range extender. Here, the engine acts as a power generator that charges the battery, while the electric motors drive the car.

In case of low battery power, the charge is generated by the engine, regen, and braking. Meanwhile, the full tank of fuel provides extended range.
Since this type of powertrain is not new, it is certainly a big change for the X-Trail, which competes with the new Toyota RAV4 Hybrid in the global market. With its new hybrid powertrain, the upcoming 2027 X-Trail Hybrid will be able to offer an equivalent, or better performance than the RAV4 Hybrid.
What else has changed?
With the introduction of a hybrid powertrain, Nissan has also given the new X-Trail a mid-life design overhaul. The front is inspired by the new Nissan Juke EV, as it boasts a new black grille, new LED headlights, and a reworked front bumper.
The side profile features the new dual-tone alloy wheels, black roof and mirrors, and E-Power Hybrid badge on the lower portion of the front doors. The rear profile is yet to be revealed, but it is suspected to feature a set of new LED taillights, a new rear bumper, and an E-Power Hybrid badge on the tailgate.
When will it launch?
Nissan has not revealed a launch timeline for the upcoming X-Trail E-Power Hybrid. But it will be launched in 2027 in the US market initially.
We are hopeful that it will be launched in the UAE subsequently, as the Middle East is one of the prime markets for Nissan globally. The X-Trail E-Power Hybrid could be positioned as the range-topping version, and its expected price could be around AED 65,000.
Cars24 UAE says
The rising fuel prices around the world are pushing car manufacturers to develop more and more hybrid vehicles that are efficient and powerful. The upcoming X-Trail E-Power Hybrid could prove a game-changer for Nissan in the UAE with its technology and efficiency.
